Student Pick Up and Drop Off Procedure

 

     SMS 2025-2026 Parent Drop Off/Pick Up Process  

 

Dropping Off/Picking Up Students - Safety is our number one priority!  

The following procedures have been put in place to promote efficient and safe drop-off procedures both during school and after school hours. Please help us keep our parking lots and entrances safe! 

 

Before School Drop Off  
Parents who drop off/pick up students are to use the south entrance (lower parking lot by the track).  The upper parking lot off Mitscher Ave. is reserved for Bus drop-off and pick-up and staff parking.  

 

Students being dropped off before school (7:00-7:30 AM), can be dropped off at the front entrance (Door #1), on the south side of the building.  Note: Students who are not involved in a supervised activity should not arrive at school before 7:10 am. When dropping off or picking up, please adhere to the following.  

When in the parking lot, it is important that if you are picking up or dropping off your child you must use the lane closest to the sidewalk. This path is shown in the image below with the “WHITE VEHICLE”. Your child must be picked up or dropped off from the SIDEWALK. Once your child has exited or entered your vehicle, you may then feel free to follow the path of the “RED VEHICLE:”. 

Please NOTE at no point should ANY PARENT be dropping off or picking up inside the parking lot lines. Vehicles should NOT be “CUTTING THROUGH” as this will put your child in harms way by having to cross traffic lines to get to or from your vehicle. This is indicated with the “BLUE VEHICLE”.

 

During School Drop Off  

• During the school day (7:30 am-2:51 pm), students can be dropped off at the front entrance (Door #2)  

After School Pick up  

• Students picked up after school (between 2:51-3:05 pm) should be picked up in the front of the building. (Door #2). Note: Students not involved in a supervised activity should be picked up by 3:05 pm.  

No curbside parking in either lot: These are fire lanes that must be kept open for emergencies that may occur at school. Please Park your vehicle in the stall if it is unattended. Applicable fines may be applied for parking in a fire lane. 

Following these parameters with safe driving should ensure the safety of all individuals/students as well as expedite the drop off and pick up times.
